Purpose Statement

GROW, LOVE, AND HAVE FUN

Student Ministry Purpose Statement

Redeemer's Student Ministry exists to tell students about God's love
by taking part in His ministry, so we can touch their hearts,
teach their minds, and tune them into a total relationship with God.

Youth all over the world are looking for the purpose in life. At Redeemer we believe that the Bible tells us exactly what we're her for. Here's a hint:  it's not about us. It's all about God! Jesus talked about five purposes for our lives in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission:

The Great Commandment: (Matthew 22:37-40)
37“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The Great Commission: (Matthew 28:19-20)
19“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28: 19-20)

How Jesus covered our purposes

Worship: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart”
Ministry: “Love your neighbor as yourself”
Evangelism: “Go and make disciples”
Fellowship: “Baptizing them”
Discipleship: “Teaching them to obey”

How we cover the purposes

Worship - celebrating God's presence and honoring him with our lifestyle.
Ministry - meeting needs with love.
Evangelism - sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those who don't yet have a personal relationship with Him.
Fellowship - students are known, cared for, held accountable, and encouraged in their spiritual journey.
Discipleship - the building up or strengthening of believers in their quest to be like Christ.

Whether it's attending a student worship service (worship), going to a work camp (ministry), inviting a friend to come to the Student Center (evangelism), a movie night at the church (fellowship), or a Bible study (discipleship), EVERYTHING WE DO IN THE STUDENT MINISTRY HAS A PURPOSE.

We are Redeemer feel that the building up of young Christian leaders is essential to grow Christ's reach here and around the world. It is the student ministry's job to make sure that young people leave Redeemer with the knowledge that will help them as they grow older and step out into the world. We will grow in leadership, Bible knowledge, serving, and as human beings put on this earth with a purpose. We will love, not just one another, we will learn to love God in ways we didn't even know we knew about. We will also learn to love ourselves. For God made us in His image and God is the most loving and beautiful presence in this world. We're going to have fun doing it to. We can messy for God, we can laugh with God, and we can have a Holy Ghost party whenever we're together.

Volunteers

Redeemer is always looking for volunteer leaders to serve on the Student Ministry Team. Relationships are the key to a solid ministry. The relationships between adult leaders and students help the students to feel loved and also provide them with a living example of Christ's love. These relationships are building blocks for a student's spiritual growth.

If you're an adult who loves God and cares about students, please consider becoming apart of the Student Ministry Team. Feel free to contact Ron and he can answer any questions you may have.
