To the Congregation of Redeemer Church:
It has been years since I have written a letter to the entire congregation. I believe that the importance of what I have to share with you today warrants this more personal communication.
Last fall, I clearly felt the nudge of God’s Spirit to encourage our congregation to take a leap of faith this year, 2017 and do something we’ve not done since I have been your Pastor. It is called a “Miracle Sunday.”
Miracle Sunday will be a separate offering, a sacrificial gift over and above our regular Stewardship Giving (which supports the day-to-day ministry and missions of our church.) It is an invitation to each one of us in this congregation to participate in the single largest one day offering in the history of our church.
This Miracle Sunday offering is being planned for the fall of this year. On October 22nd we will be asking each person/family, as God enables, to make a financial gift designated specifically for debt reduction and future ministry.
The information sheet, included in this letter, details our plan to significantly reduce or eliminate our current indebtedness of $1.1 million dollars ($10,548/month) so that we can free up funds to do more ministry in this community…and plan for an expansion of this facility that will provide additional classroom space.
All the money contributed on October 22nd will be allocated to debt retirement. If we exceed our goal (that’s faith!) your contributions will be saved for future capital fund projects/future building needs.
You will be hearing more about Miracle Sunday this summer and into the fall. We will try to answer your questions and give more information as we get closer to the date. We are informing you now of this opportunity so that you may: (1) Be praying for a “miracle” to happen on October 22nd; and (2) Begin to budget so that you can contribute.
This one time “Miracle Sunday” gift is in addition to our annual Stewardship Campaign, which will take place April 23rd – May 7th with Consecration Sunday on May 7th. Consecration Sunday will be our opportunity, as in past years, to make a pledge of support to the life and ministry of Redeemer Church.
We have been discussing this opportunity with many of the leaders of our congregation and we are getting unanimous support that this congregation is capable and ready, with God’s help, to do what may seem impossible.
Please pray for the success of this Miracle Sunday Offering…and pray about how you might have a significant part in God’s plan for Redeemer Church on that day.
“Pray as if it all depends on God, for it does. But work as if it all depends on us, for it does.” – St. Ignatius of Loyola
